Glendalough Monastic Site

Our first stop today will be the Glendalough Monastic Site.

Glendalough has attracted visitors to the shores of its two lakes for almost 1500 years. People come to experience the natural beauty of the landscape, to walk the mountains and hills and to explore the archaeological and historical monuments.

People who travel here are responding to the sacred energy of the landscape which drew St. Kevin to travel here in search of his God. The spiritual heritage of Glendalough is unsurpassed. The pilgrim way has been followed for ages past by monks and holy people and even our earliest ancestors who felt the primal call to worship. This is indeed holy ground.

Blarney Castle

Our next stop today is the famous Blarney Castle.

Nestled away in the County Cork countryside, just outside the city, is the majestic Blarney Castle.

One of the most famous castles on the island, Blarney is a romantic partial ruin set in glorious countryside. Built on the site of a 10th century wooden structure, the castle grounds are filled with wooded hollows, strange rock formations and a glistening flowing river.

At the heart of Blarney Castle is the blarney stone. This stone has been kissed by world statesmen, literary giants and films stars. The Blarney Stone is said to impart the gift of eloquence or “the gift of the gab” to those who kiss it. Included in your retreat is your ticket to smooch this magical stone (If you wish).

Enjoy free time to explore Dingle's eclectic little fashion and jewellery shops, restaurants, and pubs. Sample ice cream that tastes of Dingle Sea Salt, Guinness, Irish Coffee, Dingle Gin, and Irish Brown Bread! How fun.

Ballyseede Castle

It's a must that we dine and sleep in an Irish Castle while exploring the country.

Once we have explored the castle and grounds, it's time to get ready for our magnificent castle dinner. Feel free to get fancy for this feast!

More about Ballyseede Castle: This magnificent establishment dates all the way back to 1721 with roots in the 15th century. The castle features beautifully designed rooms, fine dining, a library bar, historic atmosphere, and 30 acres of gardens and trails to wander.

To add to the excitement of this marvelous experience, Bayllyseed Castle is rumored to be one of the most haunted castles in Ireland. No worries, these are friendly sprits. The most famous and common ghost of Ballyseede Castle is the ghost of nurse Hilda. Hilda is a very friendly ghost who minds her own business most of the time, but people have claimed she spoke to them. Hilda is seen in the upper floor and the main stairs of the castle. Her presence is always announced by the smell of roses.

Get ready for an unforgettable night!
